Comprehensive guidance system installed at the Amédée St. Germain parking garage

November 2022 marked the grand opening of the Amédée St. Germain parking garage, located near the Saint-Jean train station in Bordeaux, France. The new facility provides parking service for the residential buildings in the city center, employees of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, and customers of local restaurants and hotels.

The new garage has two levels, featuring 303 parking spaces. On the first floor, near the elevators and other access points, there are a number of spaces especially reserved for users with reduced mobility, so they can park quickly and without any accessibility issues. What’s more, with a view to supporting new technologies in ecological vehicles, the company responsible for its management offers customers 22 spaces to park and charge electrical vehicles completely free of charge.

The parking garage, located near Saint-Jean Station, gives customers the possibility to park nearby at rates that are more affordable than those of other similar facilities. Additionally, it is outfitted with smart parking systems that add to user convenience while ensuring a higher degree of security for its customers.

Other surprising innovations included in this new parking facility include the Quercus SC Indoor parking guidance system, which indicates the number of spaces that are free or occupied and the space type (VIP customers, individuals with reduced mobility, electric cars, etc.), while also enabling motion detection video surveillance in every parking space. Video surveillance is essential to ensure security in a parking garage. Video recordings enable identification of fraudulent damage claims, attempted thefts and any incidents occurring between vehicles.

The installation of the SmartLPR Access license plate recognition cameras at the parking garage access points expedites facility entrances and exits. Streamlining this process puts an end to long lines of vehicles, and means much more fluid traffic inside the facility.

Another boost to the guidance system are the parking facility’s two kiosks that feature the “Find Your Car” application, a quick, and simple way for customers to locate their cars. To use the kiosk, all the user has to do is enter their license number, or the date and time of entry into the parking facility. The application will then show an image of their vehicle occupying its parking space. Information such as the space number and the area where it is located is included under the picture. Alternatively, the exact location of the vehicle on the map of the entire parking garage can be seen by the user on the kiosk screen. The installation of a product like this guarantees a better experience for parking garage users who, at the end of a long day, may have forgotten where they parked their car.

All of this is made possible by the intercommunication between the above-mentioned SC Indoor parking sensors and the BirdWatch parking management platform, which centralizes all of the information received from the sensors, such as the exact site where the vehicle is parked, and shows it directly on the kiosk screen once the user has entered their license plate number.

This project has been a success thanks to the close cooperation of our partner AXIOME CONCEPT, and the trust placed in us by METPARK, the parking facility management company.
